Web Designer 

 

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a passion for web design, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate our clients’ visions into stunning digital experiences. As a Web Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualising and designing websites that effectively communicate our European clients goals and missions.

Key responsibilities

Your responsabilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Create visuals, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes that effectively illustrate design concepts and user interactions, using appropriate tools (Miro, Figma, etc.).
  • Design visually appealing and user-friendly websites that align with European Commission guidelines and project goals.
  • Develop responsive web designs that optimise the user experience across various devices and screen sizes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve design quality and innovation.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure seamless integration of design elements and functionality.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior designers and other team members as needed.

Job qualifications

Your profile:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Web Design, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Web Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous web design projects.
  • Proficiency in web design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Sketch, or other relevant tools to create visually appealing prototypes, layouts, graphics, and user interfaces.
  • Previous experience in working for European clients and a good knowledge of the Europa Web Guide principles is considered a big plus.
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience working with front-end frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap).
  • Understanding of responsive web design principles and techniques to create websites that adapt seamlessly to various screen sizes and devices, providing an optimal user experience.
  • Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles and user interface (UI) design best practices to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces that enhance usability and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of typography principles and the ability to select and pair fonts effectively to enhance readability and visual appeal in web design.
  • Understanding of colour theory and its application in web design to create visually harmonious colour schemes and convey mood and brand identity effectively.
  • Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve rendering discrepancies to ensure consistent performance across different web browsers.
  • Basic understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO) and accessibility principles and techniques to optimise web design elements for usage for all users and ranking in search engine results.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, team members, and developers, articulate design concepts and ideas, and incorporate feedback throughout the design process.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet project deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Creative thinking ability to generate innovative design concepts and attention to detail to refine and polish design elements, ensuring a polished and professional final product.
  • Willingness to stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in web design, and adapt to evolving industry standards to maintain relevance and competitiveness.
