Project Manager with DG COMM


What we are looking for

We are currently looking for a Communication Project Manager who will work at the Direction General of Communication (DG COMM) and support with several internal projects and campaigns and engage partners and stakeholders in a collaborative and participatory way to achieve sustainable positive change.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide project management services in the implementation, coordination and evaluation of corporate communication campaigns.
  • Oversight the implementation of all aspects of campaigns including timelines and deliverables, including flagging when deadlines are not being respected or risk being missed, suggesting courses of action to avoid or solve problems. Management of a project management tool to track the implementation of tasks.
  • Assist in the development and definition of communications plans and conducting preparatory research in support of these.
  • Coordinate, review, edit or contribute to draft documents and communication materials related to campaigns (including briefing notes, speaking points, presentations and lines-to-take).
  • Perform quality control of campaign material to evaluate whether they are coherent with campaign messages, target audience, visual guidelines and identity and other key metrics.
  • Oversight of copyrights for assets and pre-existing material and ensure that they are in place during the lifetime of the campaign in question.
  • Assist in management of social media, including community management, and web publishing.
  • Verify ad setups in ad accounts on various platforms.
  • Liaise with several units or teams in DG Communication (for example, social media, graphic designers, web, and Commission Representations) and other Commission Directorates-General on issues related to the preparation, coordination and implementation of campaigns.
  • Organise and prepare of meetings or events related to the campaigns with stakeholders within and outside the Commission. Attending and contributing to such events and providing de-briefs. Ensure diligent archiving of minutes.
  • Manage campaign functional mailboxes and draft replies to emails.
  • Archive all relevant campaign correspondence, documentation and deliverables, including campaign assets.
  • Support for and assist the coordination of administrative procedures.

Job qualifications

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • University degree in Communications, English or related field;
  • Minimum five years’ of relevant professional experience in project management and communications;
  • Experience in driving communication & operational change management in similar environments;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and/or other Project Management Tools is desired.
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for content production, social and digital media, campaigns and community management.
  • Passion for EU communication and a good understanding of EU environment.


  • Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills;
  • Experience in managing and implementing change communications for international audiences;
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications, project management social media tools;
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to build partnerships at all levels;
  • Ability to work on several projects both independently and in a multi-cultural team, with an aptitude for close cooperation and coordination;
  • Flexibility and with a “can do” attitude;
  • Ability to manage big campaigns and projects, with strong organisation skills and focus on details.
