Communications Assistant

 

What we are looking for

The implant will help and support the actions of one of our clients in digital and media communications to increase the visibility, awareness and overall understanding of the role and progress made by the institution as a unique action-oriented intergovernmental organisation that promotes regional dialogue and cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Key responsibilities

A digital and media communications profile is requested to be stationed in Barcelona where our client is located to perform and support on the following tasks:

DIGITAL COMM

  • Contribute to draft and publish compelling social media content for the editorial calendars and link media actions with the our client’s social networks (Facebook, TW, Linkedin, Instagram)
  • Oversee day-to-day content and ensure consistency.
  • Coordinate with on-site designer to produce audio-visual content (videos, animations, images, etc.)
  • Analyse social media campaigns (both organic and paid) in coordination with a Communication’s external agency.
  • Monitor social media activity to identify potential viral content or trends, as well as influencers and experts.

MEDIA

  • Prepare lists and disseminate press releases in different languages through the MailChimp account.
  • Update the media database’s contact details regularly. Ensure that all new contacts and relations established with the media are registered.
  • Update the coordination tools that are shared with the Agency, such as the media contributions table, and help the Agency with the reporting of all media activities.
  • Punctually, perform follow-up calls with key media representatives after dispatching press releases or media invitations for newsworthy opportunities.
  • Provide support in the preparation of interviews by creating briefing documents for the spokespeople.
  • Help coordinate press trips and provide support in the arrangement of media interviews in events organised.
  • Keep updated important internal communication documents such as the one on Key Facts & Figures or those gathering the main Q&As in different sectors.
  • Provide support in updating the web media corner, the media board of and the available publications in the office.
  • Prepare information kits when needed for missions, events or meetings with the media.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Support the communication unit with translations and proofreading in at least 2 of the languages required (English – French – Arabic).
  • Provide support in the production of human-interest stories, including identification of potential interviewees, interview script proposals, coordination of interviews and drafting of final product.
  • Help develop the public affairs database, including regular updates of the existing database, identification of new contacts and so on.

Job qualifications

Your profile:

  • Native level of Standard Arabic, both spoken and written, and proficient level of English.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification in Communications, Social Media, Journalism, Public Relations or any other equivalent degree in the areas of social sciences.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in communication with a special focus on social media and digital communications.
  • Experience in an international organisation and/or international relations is an asset.
  • Knowledge about the Mediterranean region is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Political and intercultural sensitivity.
